Logging into a Windows computer
Your logon credentials for any of the school’s Windows computers are as follows:
Username: (Usually Surname.FirstInital)
Temporary password: Crestwood2026
(You will be prompted to change your password upon first login)
To log into any of the school’s Chromebooks, you can use your school email account outlined in the next section.
Your Crestwood IT accounts are only to be used for the purpose set out in our ICT Acceptable Use Policy.
Please ensure you read this carefully.
Emails & Google Workspace
Much of our IT is Google-based; therefore, all staff and students are given a Google account. Your Google account will give you access to your emails and a wide variety of resources such as Google Drive, Classroom, Docs, Sheets, Slides and Calendar. The Google login page will display automatically when you open Chrome if you are not already logged in. Your Google credentials are as follows:
Email address: (Usually Surname.FirstInital) @crestwood.hants.sch.uk
Password: Crestwood2026
Once you are logged in, it’s important to enable the sync of your Chrome bookmarks. Your Chrome bookmarks are accessible across all devices so long as you enable this sync on the device. Synchronising your bookmarks will also give you a bookmark folder that contains a handful of helpful links to things such as the IT Support and Site Team ticket portals, Class Charts, and the telephone list.
To synchronise your bookmarks, log into your Google account in the Chrome browser, click on the bubble at the top-right of the window (it may have your photo in it), and then click ‘Turn on sync’. Select ‘Continue’ in the window that pops up, and then ‘Yes, I’m in’ in the next.
Arbor
Arbor can be used to do registers, create seating plans, set cover work, contact parents, and more.
You can access Arbor via the bookmark in the Crestwood bookmarks folder in Chrome, or by going to:
https://crestwood-community-school.uk.arbor.education
You can sign in to Arbor using the ‘Log in with Google’ option on the login screen.
ID Badge
You will be issued with an ID badge which you must always keep on your person. As well as identifying you, the badge is
also used for:
Printers.
Tap your badge on the reader to sign into the printer. The first time you do this you will need to enter your computer username and password.
Signing in and out.
You must sign in and out of the school site by tapping your card on the sign in/out screens located in the receptions on both our Shakespeare and our Cherbourg campuses. The first time you sign in you will need to tap ‘Staff’ and search for your name. It will then ask you to scan your badge. Once this has been done, you will only need to tap your card to sign in or out. You must sign in and out every day, including if you visit the other campus during the day.
Opening doors. Some doors, such as the inner reception doors, are locked with electronic locks. Simply tap your badge on the reader next to the door and it will release the lock.
File storage
We provide Google Drive storage for every user at the school. As long as you are signed in to your Google account, you
can access your data from any location with ease, including when you are offsite.
Your Google Drive data has a 25-day retention period that allows us to recover lost data, so if you need any data recovered, please contact IT Support immediately.
Printing
Your print jobs can be released from any printer in the school, regardless of where you printed from. To release your print
job, simply sign in to a printer and follow the on-screen instructions. All print jobs are tracked and charged to a
department. Please ensure when printing your document that the correct campus is selected.
Procedures
Pupils are not permitted to be left in any of the computer suites unsupervised.
Staff are responsible for checking that the equipment is present at the beginning of the lesson and the equipment should also be checked at the end of the lesson before dismissing the class to ensure it is left in good condition. Pupils should not be allowed to remove mice, keyboards or touch any of the connections of the computer. This is how most damage occurs.
It is important that no food or drink is consumed in the ICT suites as this is against Health and Safety Regulations.
